Rangers Lead the Way
If you’ve ever served in the military, you know who “Lead the Way” belongs to. For everyone who doesn’t know, that motto belongs to the best of the best; the ones who captured Saddam Hussein. The ones who have been to battle and led the way in Somalia. The ones who led the way in World War II. I can go on, but I will end the suspense: U.S. Army Rangers Lead the Way. There is no better direct action force than them. Yes, you hear of the Navy SEALs and other branches that have elite combat units. But when it comes down to the training, the massive amount of firepower a Ranger battalion can bring down upon an enemy in such a short period of time means Rangers will always lead the way! Why do you think the most elite and highly trained expert fighting force in the U.S. arsenal travels with the Rangers? Why do you think most of them came from a Ranger battalion?
Ranger Creed
R—“Recognizing that I volunteered as a ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of my ranger regiment.”
Even if you graduate from Ranger school, you still are not a Ranger until you spend a tour with the regiment or battalion. To be a Ranger is an honor, and this carries a high level of prestige that we don’t run around carrying on about all the time.
A—“Acknowledging the fact that a ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a ranger, my country expects me to move further, faster, and fight harder than any other soldier.”
Expectations for Rangers are set high even before you attend Ranger school. Your command does not want you to just graduate; they want you to excel. The standards for a Ranger are far harder than those for a normal soldier. And you won’t graduate Ranger school without your RTI, even if your peers know you’re ready and truly dedicated to complete the job of a Ranger!
N—“Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong, and morally straight, and I will shoulder more than my share of the task, whatever it may be, one hundred percent and then some.”
Rangers are about the team; there is nothing individual in the Rangers. Why do you think you can be peered out of school? We work harder. We set higher expectations for ourselves and our team.
G—“Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress, and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow.”
Rangers lead the way in more than just battle or war; it’s in everything. We will always strive to look our best. Our uniform is worn with pride in what we do and what we wear and what we represent.
E—“Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country.”
It is true the Rangers’ place is on the battlefield, not to just defeat the enemy but to eliminate the enemy and any threat to our country and our comrades!
R—“Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission, though I be the lone survivor.”
A Ranger will always fight until their last breath has been taken. We will always fight to survive.
Rangers Lead the Way
We are the elite fighting force of direct action, the best our armed forces has to offer. We will always take the fight to our enemy, rip the hearts from our enemy, and leave them lying bleeding on the ground. History will always remember the Rangers and our country will always look to us to defeat our enemy with any means to win the battle and the war. We are the leaders of battle. We are Army Rangers! Army Rangers Lead the Way!
