Who’s the Real Enemy?

Who’s the Real Enemy?

Posted by Bill Howard |

If you ask anyone, they’ll probably tell you our main enemy is somewhere in the Middle East and that they go by names of Taliban, ISIS, and others. However, if you ask a veteran or anyone that’s been in the military in the last 20 years, they will tell you different.

The Real Enemy

They’ll say, and it’s probably true, that our real enemy is ourselves. We pretend that it’s not true, and we spend every day blaming the economy on war or on terrorism. But at the same time, we are texting and driving and our nation has an opioid epidemic. And when you look at our military, it’s weaker today than it was even five years ago.

Why is this? There’s no one place to point the finger. There are so many reasons why our military, economy, and more are weak.

Distracted by Technology

Ask yourself this, how do you spend your day? The answer is easy.

All you have to do is spend five minutes on the freeway and you can answer the question. For most of the population over the age of 10, they spend their day on their phones.

That’s good for Verizon and all the cell phone companies, but this is why sooner than later we will get into a real war and lose.

Who’s to Blame?

The weakness of our economy is to blame for one.

Another reason is that we continue to accept mediocrity due to laziness. We have lowered our standards and accepted the fact that greed and dishonesty got us to where we are today.

Both of these reasons are further examples of why we will lose if we get into another real war, we will lose. We can’t just point the finger at one person and say it’s their fault, because it’s not. Many years ago when the real estate and mortgage market was booming, we allowed criminal behavior for an industry to make millions but ended up costing the entire country way beyond that.

Is There a Way to Fix It?

Do I know how to fix the problems we have? If I could answer that, I would be the richest person in the world because I’d sell it.

However, I believe the only true way to fix our economy, fix our military, and fix a lot of other things that make our country weak is to simply live by the set of values that our country was initially built on, then work our way up.

We live in a country today that continues to suffer due to laziness, greed, and dishonesty. If we want to truly beat our biggest enemy, we simply need to start living a better set of values. Then some of the problems we have will begin to start taking care of themselves.
